Founded in 1993, John Viescas Consulting provided database consulting and training services, specializing in Microsoft® Access and Microsoft® SQL Server. The principal owner, John L. Viescas, provided consulting for a variety of small to large businesses and corporations worldwide. He is the author of numerous books, including Running Microsoft Access 97, Running Microsoft Access 2000, Microsoft Office Access 2003 Inside Out, Building Microsoft Access Applications, and Microsoft Office Access 2007 Inside Out (Microsoft Press). He is also the author of SQL Queries for Mere Mortals (Addison-Wesley).

He has written numerous articles for technical publications and has lectured at conferences and user group meetings around the world. He was recognized as a “Most Valuable Professional” every year between 1993 and 2015 by Microsoft Product Support Services for his assistance on public support forums. Since he became semi-retired in 2013, he happily yielded the MVP mantle to other more active contributors.

As of 2022, John is permanently retired – living the good life in Paris, France.
